Rose paced her classroom, getting prepared for her first potion lesson of the new school year. Her black skirt brushed up against her leg as she moved swiftly towards the ingredients cabinet. Sure, she was supposed to wear robes. Rose liked to show off her inner Slytherin and continue to wear clothing that showed off her House pride.
She opened the cabinet and moved around ingredients, making sure she had everything she'd need for the first week of school. Of course, it was only day one. She wasnt teaching anything new yet. She pushed aside a jar of asphodel and looked around for her blackbeetle parts.
When she was satisfied that everything was in its place, she shut the cabinet. She held up her wand and pointed it at the lock. "Colloportus." She smiled when a small snake appeared from her wand and locked tight around the cabinet, sealing it. It was her own special version of the charm.
She smiled when she looked at the time and realized the first class was about to start. She held her wand up to the chalkboard and the beautiful cursive writing read
"Potions. Day One. Professor Rose Emily Fair"
When the first student walked in, she walked to the front of her classroom and smiled.

Alu walked down the stairs ,counting each one that he took down towards the dungeons ,"...Twenty-six ,twenty-seven..." As he neared the final step ,another student bumped into him. "Oh ,sorry." "Watch where you're going!" ,exclaimed the other student. As the other student was turning to keep watching ,Alu noticed that the crest on his robes was Slytherin. "Typical..."
When he made to the door to the potions classroom he looked around and wondered what time it was. "Am I late? or am I early?" He frowned. "I guess I'm late for my first class of this year." When he opened the door and found the classroom empty and the Professor standing in the front smiling he was shocked. He turned and looked at the clock.
There was still time for more students to show up. He walked all the way into the classroom and walked towards the Professor and smiled ,"Good morning Professor."

Oh potions. How Rose always dreaded potions class. Of all the subjects in the school, potions was by far her worst. She had to actually really work at her homework in order to acheive an acceptable grade, and even then it was still lower than the standards Rose had set for all her other classes. She let a soft sigh escape from her lips as she moved through the schools corridors until she reached the dreaded staircase to the dungeons.
Now, Rose did not mind the dungeons in the least, which was strange considering she was a proud Gryffindor, but that was just fine and dandy. The fact that the staircase was dreaded was simply because of potions class. Rose was not exactly known to hang out in the dungeons, but she has had her random excursions down there, which were always fun.
Another soft sigh escaped Rose's lips as she decended the stairs. This was going to be a long day if it began with potions. Oh well, she decided to make the most of it. Soon enough Rose was at the bottom of the stairs, and she pushed a strand of her red hair out of her eyes so that hopefully she could see a little bit better. Given the fact that this was a dungeon there were no windows to allow in the light, so while Rose could normally see through her hair, down in the dungeons her hair made seeing clearly difficult.
After a few more steps Rose arrived at the classroom door. Taking a short breath Rose pushed open the door and looked around, surprised to see just one other student and the professor in the room. Apparantly Rose was earlier than she thought she was. Silently the girl moved towards her typical seat and sat down, placing her bag on the floor beside the table.

Rose nodded politely at her students. "Good morning Mr. Hellsing." She paused. "Ms. Weasley. You wont be needing your Potions book today." She explained, holding the smile on her face.
She looked at the two Gryffindors and then couldnt help but glance at her Slytherin outfit. She knew she shouldnt be wearing house colors, but she loved to show off her Slytherin pride.
She moved to the back of the room and closed the cabinet with the cauldrons and pots and anything else that was used to make potions. She repeated the spell and yet another snake appeared. She stared at it and whispered "Thank you." in parseltongue. She smiled and walked back to the front of the classroom, leaning against her desk.

As the other student walked in and went to her seat ,he thought of doing the same. As he walked over to it he took a glance at the potions cabinets and noticed the snakes on them wrapped around. "I guess that's to keep unwanted people from looking into the supplies" ,he thought. As he reached his chair he turned and smiled at the other student in the class. "Good morning" he said as he sat down.

With great haste, Ophelia moved gracefully through the dungeons. "I can't believe I'm late!" she thought to herself. She held her books tightly as she quickly walked, looking nervous and wondered how badly she would get scolded, for she always tried to avoid drawing any attention to herself, but thats what she gets for loosing track of the time. Luckily the Slytherin Common Room was in the dungeons as well so she wouldn't too late.
At last she had made it. She peeped her head through the door and saw two Gryffindors that were already seated and ready to learn. She looked around the classroom nervously, then at the professor, blinking awkwardly and slowly walked in to take her seat. "I- I apologize for being late..." she mumbled.

Rose casually glanced up at the professor when she heard her name called. "Good morning Professor Fair," She said, placing a small smile on her lips. When the professor then mentioned that the potions book would not be required that day Rose gave a small shrug, having been about to take it out of her bag. She then glanced around again, shocked at how few people were in the class.
It was at that point that another student, a Gryffindor by the looks of his robes, took a seat near her and said 'good morning', presumably towards Rose. She smiled a little in his direction, and said softly "I don't quite know whats so 'good' about a morning that starts with potions," She hoped that her comment would not be heard by the professor, because that may lead to trouble.

Alu looked confusingly at Rose when she replied with that comment. He walked over to the seat in front of her and turned to look at her. "It might not be so bad. You never know ,you might have some fun." He whispered to her with a smile. He turned back and walked over to his original seat. As he sat back down ,he noticed another student in the class room. Someone who he knew quiet well. He smiled at her as she walked to her own seat. "Hi!"

Ophelia twirled her brunette curls and lightly tapped her quill on the desk, not paying any attention to who was there with her in the class. Yet she noticed one of the other students had moved to a different seat and glanced over at the Gryffindor girl. Ophelia didn't know who she was so she didn't say a word.
Suddenly, the person who had moved seats spoke to her. She realized it was a very familiar voice greeting her. She turned her head toward the other student; it was Alu. She knew Alu for awhile now and the other Slytherins seemed to look down at her for associating with a Gryffindor. Like she cared what they're thoughts were, for he wasn't judgmental like most of them were.
She blinked and smiled weakly at him, giving him a gentle wave of her small hand then looked down at her desk as she began to tap her quill once again.

Rose glanced over her class. She recognized the students from the last year, since none of them were new. The room seemed to be all set up for the first day lesson. "You'll need your books tomorrow. Don't forget, or the result will be an essay instead of creating the potion." she said, with a slight smile.
Rose was very serious about her potions. The only thing she cared about more was her family. She glanced around the room once more, before taking a seat in her chair, waiting for the rest of the students to arrive.
After waiting a while, and after lots more students entered the room she stood again, to begin her lesson.
"Good morning, students. I'm your Potions teacher. Professor Fair." She smiled at them. "First things first. Today, you won't be creating any potions. Depending on our time, though, I might."

Rose gave a soft smile at the boy. Apparently he had not seen her in the common room with potions books open the past few years. Oh well, that was just fine. She nodded and replied back "Well, I just hope that hard work pays off. Potions isn't a bad class, its just my worst class." Rose shrugged slightly, then looked back up at the professor.
Why wouldn't class begin so that this hour could be over with? With a soft sigh Rose began to doodle on the parchment that was infront of her. She figured that tapping fingers on the desk may be bad for first thing in the morning, but that was fine. Soon enough the class was begining, and Rose looked up expectantly. Rose nodded at the professors statement of not making potions on the first day, they normally did not. She set her hand in such a way so that she could take easy notes as the professor spoke.

As he walked over to the girl in the Slytherin robes ,he noticed a few more students entering the room. "How have you been? I haven't seen you in forever!" He said as others looked at him as though he was crazy. Crazy because he was a Gryffindor walking over to talk with a Slytherin.
After a quick conversation with her ,he slowly gets back to his own seat and then hears the professor start the class.

Ophelia turned her eyes toward the Gryffindor boy, "Oh, I'm quite alright and yes, it has been quite some time." she said in a very quiet tone and noticed more students were arriving inside the classroom then noticed some Slytherins had been displaying odd looks toward her, but she ignored them like she always had.
Their conversation was fairly quick, for class was obviously about to begin. Ophelia sat there in her seat rolling her eyes around, swiftly moving her legs back and forth in a childlike manner as the teacher introduced herself. She wondered what potions she was going to be making throughout the year.
Ophelia enjoyed potions. She never knew why, but she found it simply fun. It was one subject she could pay attention in, though with very little daydreaming.
